Kearney Purple Wave

The Kearney Swim Team (KST) is a summer league swim team that competes in the Northland Conference. KST joined the Northland Swim Conference in January 1998.

We are dedicated to the training and nurturing of young swimmers in the Kearney area. We accept swimmers age 6 through 18 yrs of age (as of June 1, 2023). All swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool (25 meters), unassisted, before joining the team.

We have our practices during the summer in the mornings, Monday thru Thursday at the Mabee Center pool on the William Jewell campus in Liberty.

Our swim meets are arranged by strokes and ages. The swimmers can compete in 3 individual events and 2 relay events. All relays are selected by the coaches and are based on entry times. Swimmers do not have to compete in every meet, but they must swim in at least 3 meets to compete in the championships at the end of the season.

Swimmer and Parent Expectations

All swimmers and parents are expected to display good sportsmanship during practices and meets. Good sportsmanship occurs when teammates, opponents, coaches, officials and parents treat each other with respect. This includes treating other teams with respect. Disrespect will not be tolerated. Bad behavior reflects poorly on the whole team. If there is an issue with swimmer behavior during practice or a meet, your swimmer may be asked to leave the pool area or not be allowed to swim in a meet. We ask that all parents display good sportsmanship by encouraging your swimmers to do their best. Remember that in swimming, the kids win each time they improve their time. Please leave the coaching and officiating to the coaches and officials. If you have questions or an issue arises, please talk directly with a board member or coach.
